Yorkshire Afghan Hound Ch Show Sept 14th 2013

Judge Sue Oakley .....Nanak

Dog critique

Firstly I want to thank the Yorkshire Afghan hound club for the invitation to judge dogs.

I would also like to thank you to my stewards who kept me well organized all day.

I think the club has a winning format at the new venue..plenty of space, parking and excellent size of rings.

There was a high standard of males and I was very pleased with my final line up.  I thank the exhibitors for their lovely entry.

On a sadder note...  There is a lack of balance with some the dogs. Either too short in back and short on the leg  A lack of exotic heads, eyes & there were a a lot of very untypical heads with no underjaw. A pet hate of mine short upper arms, which restrict movement. Our breed is meant to move with long easy strides. Covering a lot of ground with the minium of ease. Not fast & furious.

I was more than pleased with my final line up, and thrilled with my CC winner & Rcc winner, all bred from similar lines. The puppy winner and Best Puppy were sired by My CC winner.

Vet / (5)

Bunny’s Ch Firos Torran at Zadal jw.

A 9yr old gold male...a lovely classic male acting like a junior. Well Balanced refined head, but with plenty of chiselling giving depth to his face. Dark exotic eye and expression with that touch of arrogance head held proudly.

Longest of necks into a well laid back shoulders and correct balance of upper arm. Good depth of brisket, and short strong loin level top line ,correct fall away  good balance from hip to hock. Correct tail set. Covered plenty of ground when moving

A classic hound. And well presented and a well deserved best vet in show.
