The Yorkshire Afghan Hounds Society 10th September 2016
Thank you to all of the committee for putting on a well run show and giving me
such a warm welcome. Special thanks to my two
professional stewards who looked after me so well. I thoroughly enjoyed
my day.
It is nearly twelve years since I have awarded CCs in Afghan hounds. I was
looking for breed type and balance. I found some beautiful, balanced feminine
bitches. I was extremely happy with my winners. I was delighted with my CC and Rcc winners who were BIS and RBIS.
However, handlers feeling the need to have dogs
strung up and charging around the ring has taken over from a dog shown on a
loose lead. In some cases it was the dogs front coat extending as it moved
forward not the dog. I found a few knots under armpits and clipped out saddles.
Too many snipey heads with lack of bottom jaw and
lack of muscle tone. Some hounds could do with more lay back of front pasterns
because the springy stride starts from the feet. Some current breeders would do
well to take note and study the standard.
