YORKSHIRE AFGHAN HOUND SOCIETY CH. SHOW – DOGS

The Yorkshire Afghan Hound Society’s 21st Championship Show held at Carlton Towers on Sept 20th was one of the most enjoyable I have ever judged and my sincere thanks must go to my stewards who enabled my day to run so smoothly, and my admiration to the officers and committee who carried through this superbly organized weekend. It would be difficult to find a more beautiful and dramatic setting for any show than the splendid background of Carlton Towers and the elegant white fencing of the rings.

Thank you so much to the exhibitors for their entries with such a consistently high standard. The quality was such that it was quite difficult at times to make my choice. Limit and Open classes were particularly exciting.

Presentation was excellent and it was lovely to see dogs standing without being "topped and tailed".One thing only caused me any real concern, that more dogs than I expected had short rib cages and long loins, thus providing less heart and lung room.

I enjoyed so much the interesting and varied presentation of the speakers from around the world on the day of the World Congress. It was both fascinating and instructive, so much thought and time had been given, and it was such a wonderful opportunity to renew contact with "Afghanites" from all over the world.

Best Wishes for the future to the Yorkshire Afghan Hound Society.
